This course is for climbers looking to improve their performance and climb more efficiently. It will be client generated and specific to each participant’s individual desires and skill level. General areas of focus will be kinesiology, body awareness, injury prevention, technique, and theory. Participants will receive one-on-one coaching designed to promote growth and skill as a climber.

All skill levels welcome. Everyone has different experiences and even experienced climbers can learn from beginners.

Rental gear is not included.

This course addresses the basic technical skills necessary to manage an instructional program at a climbing facility. The course length is a minimum of 20 hours of instruction, skills demonstration, and evaluation, typically run over 2.5 days. CWI Certification lasts for three years. After three years current CWI’s can re-take a one-day reassessment to regain the CWI certification.

Teaching experience and minimum of one year climbing required.

This class is the perfect parent-child intro class! Your child or children will get plenty of climbing time, and you will have the opportunity to learn to belay them! You and your child will learn how to tie a figure eight-follow-through-knot, and your child will have plenty of climbing time, while you practice belaying them.

Looking for a unique competitive sport for your child or teenager? Our dedicated group of climbers competes in local and regional competitions throughout the year. The team meets for training once a week, with the expectation that each team member will climb in the gym at least two additional times per week. Experienced coach Cody Ison guides the team through strength training, skills exercises, and endurance building. This is a great way to build physical fitness, thrive in a team environment, and attend competitions. Some travel is required.

We recommend that participants begin with the pre-climbing team before advancing to the competitive team.

Interested in discovering what this climbing thing is all about? This is the perfect way to get started for kids too young to belay, vacationers, or those interested in maximizing climbing time on their first trip. You will have a staff belayer for the full 1.5 hours, and emphasis will be on maximizing climbing time. You will receive a quick facility tour, orientation, and instruction on tying in. You will NOT learn how to belay in this class. You will also receive some instruction in basic climbing movement and gear.

This class is for brand new climbers who want to learn how to belay and the basics of climbing. We will teach you how to properly put on your harness, tie a figure-eight-follow-through knot, and belay in a safe and secure manner by properly removing slack and supporting the climber safely. This class will prepare you to take the Top Rope Belay Test that will allow you to belay in the gym without staff supervision. You will also learn how to conserve energy and strength while climbing and the ways to approach the different kinds of holds.

Rental gear is included in this class.

ON LEAD (Lead Climbing/Belay Certification)

$80 1 adult (age 14+) | 2 hours | 2 sessions

Our two-part class covers safety, rope management, lead belaying and indoor lead climbing. The first session will focus on lead-climbing, while the second session will focus on lead-belaying. Climbing proficiency is required (it is mandatory that participants are comfortable climbing 5.9 on top-rope). Top-rope belay certification is also a prerequisite.

Rental gear is not included.

The pre climbing team is for kids and teens who are not ready to begin competing, but who would like to dedicate more time and training to the sport of rock climbing. The pre-team meets once a week, and students are expected to climb in the gym outside of class as well. The pre team will learn the basics of strength training, as well as improve their endurance and technique.

Some climbing experience recommended. A great way to start is the Young Aspiring Climbers Program.

Ages 10-13 | 6 weeks | 12 Classes

Looking for an activity for your son or daughter that will challenge them physically and mentally? This 6-week course (18 hours for ages 10-13 / 6 hours for ages 6-9) will teach your kid the basics of climbing, with plenty of climbing time, climbing games, and personal coaching from one of our highly-trained and enthusiastic staff. Option available to sign up for an additional six weeks.

Five fun filled afternoons, each focused on new challenges and lessons for kids of all levels. Campers will work on footwork, and route reading to develop efficiency and competence in bouldering and top-rope climbing. Emphasis will be placed on the history of rock climbing, safety, and gym etiquette. Climbers will be grouped according to experience. More advanced climbers will work on a variety of strength and movement techniques to advance their skill.


Each week will include opportunities for teamwork and leadership.

Maximum of 12 participants per week | Min: 4 | Grouped according to age and ability. No climbing experience necessary.

For the novice who has never been in the vertical zone or the indoor gym climber wanting to get out on real rock! We will introduce you to the outdoor community. Learn movement, climbing knots, how to belay (manage the ropes), and the nuances of outdoor climbing etiquette.

November 7 & 8 | 2 day class | $375/person

It's time to transition from the gym to the glorious North Carolinian granite! This two-day course will give you the skills to head out to your cliff of choice to set up climbs and hone your rock movement skills. We will cover topics of climbing gear; anchoring; top rope set-up and cleaning; knots & hitches; belaying; rappelling & lowering; and guide book deciphering.
