Shannon's love of travel landed her in Wilmington, where she was thrilled to find WRG. Shannon harnessed her teaching expertise while working at Ramstein Outdoor Recreation in Germany. She has also taught scuba diving and ice diving.

Cody's love for rock-climbing, particularly on Southern Sandstone, began over a decade ago in Eastern Kentucky.  He strives to keep people stoked about climbing while helping them reach their full fitness potential. Cody views coaching as an outlet to give back to the community, where he looks forward to being part of the growing climbing culture here in Coastal North Carolina. Cody is an AMGA certified Climbing Wall Instructor, USAclimbing Level 1 route setter, W.F.R, and Leave No Trace Master Educator.

Originally from Brevard NC, Grace has been a competitive climber and coach for over ten years. Before joining Wilmington Rock Gym, she worked as an REI climbing guide in Seattle, Washington and assistant head coach for Edgeworks-Tacoma’s competitive climbing team. 

Outside of climbing, she enjoys whitewater kayaking and backpacking in Western NC.

Zack discovered his passion for climbing after getting shot twice in Afghanistan and medically retiring from the Marine Corps. He loves to share his stoke for all things climbing- especially trad and ice climbing! Zack believes in the sense of purpose the mountains can offer us and the adventure it can bring to our lives. He loves taking climbing trips with his wife and daughter and cherishes any opportunity to introduce new climbers to the outdoors. When he’s not in the gym or at the crag, Zack is helping to train the next generation of warfighters as a civilian contractor for the Department of Defense.

Cordelia

Cordelia is from Northern Virginia, but moved to Wilmington to study at the University of North Carolina with a major in Biology and a minor in Oceanography. She first got into climbing 2 years ago, when she was in her first year of college, and has loved it ever since. She loves sharing her passion of climbing with her students in the YAC classes she coaches. When she’s not climbing, Cordelia loves outdoor activities such as backpacking in the mountains, hiking, SCUBA diving.

Wade

Wade developed his love for climbing in one of WRG's Summer Clinics in 2019. He is now on the Climbing Team and a staff member. He assists with the Young Aspiring Climbers classes and is a staff belayer for events.

Ben attended a Young Aspiring Climbers class in 2021 and fell in love with climbing. He is now on the WRG Climbing Team and a member of our staff. He also assists with the Young Aspiring Climbers classes.
